Because it was a relatively inexpensive sword, it was mostly wielded by people from the lower social classes, who also used it in their daily lives. According to the Elmslie typology, this messer can be classified as a Type 4b. Weapons of this type were mainly used during the late 15th to early 16th century. The slightly curved blade is hand forged
