A French Legion D'honneur; Officer In Gold; First Empire 1806-1808 Auction Archive Schnek was commanding the 97thIII Type; Officer's Badge in Gold and enamels, 39. 2mm (x 57. 5mm including crown suspension), hallmarked on ring (Gold, Paris); Type III crosses are surmounted by a movable crown. The crown has eight half arches and a small cross on top. The cross arms do not have ball finials. Type III medallions feature a portrait of Napoleon on the obverse and an imperial eagle on the reverse. The eagle on the reverse medallion faces right. An excellent example
