Clapton released his debut self titled solo record in 1970 through Atco and Polydor. In 1974, Clapton released its followup, 461 Ocean Boulevard. The record was his first after quitting heroin and was a big hit. It featured a cover of Bob Marley's "I Shot The Sheriff" and went to #1 in the US.
