with a smooth black faux leather (leatherette) exterior with an Iron Cross First Class embossed in silver on the outside of the lid

Footnote: Howard Newton Jenkins was born on December 13, 1889, in Preston, Iowa. Prior to enlisting in December of 1917 with the Canadian Engineers, he was a carpenter in Tacoma, Washington, USA.
